Day 0

June 5, 2010

This blog will follow the progress of Ico over the next couple of months during her pregnancy and hopefully several very healthy and happy puppies. Some days will be more eventful than others but it will be a good way to keep everyone apprised of what is going on. So with paws crossed let the adventure begin.

OK, so Ico is going to be artificially inseminated (maybe too much information but here is where the first adventure started). The semen was scheduled to arrive from Colorado on Friday, June 4. A call from Evergreen Veterinary Hospital (where Ico will be inseminated) to Vikki informed her that the semen had not arrived as anticipated. Apparently the semen was delayed on a Fedex plane in Memphis, Tennessee due to mechanical failure. The stomach churn about this was Fedex could not tell Vikki definitively when the semen would arrive or even if its destination was Seattle. After numerous phone calls by Vikki Fed Ex stated it may or may not arrive in Seattle and that it may arrive on Saturday or Monday….ugh.

Thankfully on Saturday (June 5) in the am Vikki was able to do some more sleuthing and track down someone at Fedex who knew what was going on and let her know that the semen was in route to Seattle and would arrive before 12 noon at Evergreen. Yeah.
