I have a confession.... I think what i though were two vertibral columuns next to each other was actually a vertibal column with ribs springing fron either side. SO.... I change my number to agree with the vet.... 5 puppies... Dang.

  1. they looks so long! Maybe because the tails are full length? What is the approximate size now?

  2. I know! They look long don't they? I think if you add the rest of them (flesh and guts :) They wouldn't appear so long. The tails aren't even seen yet. The tails remain Cartilage for about a week after they're born. The vet said that they look to be around 9 oz or so. That means they'll probably be about 12-13 ounces at birth which is pretty ideal. The nice thing is that they all look about the same size.... no one is extremely tiny. It makes sense because they were well spaced out in the uterus. I don't know if I mentioned earlier that there are actually two uteruses (uteri?LOL) at this point they fold up on each other and that's why the puppies looke like they're piled on top of one another. I used to have an illustration of this but I can't find it. So although they look bunched up, they are all spaced well apart so they've stretched out.... apparently the realestate here is mighty fine! ;0D
