Day 58

Ico continues to get bigger but she's also totally active, eating and doesn't appear to be ready to deliver these babies yet. Interestingly she is getting a tad growly at Corsa and Eureka when they approach her on the bed but TinTin and Nickel don't bother her. I wonder if it's the familiar thing going on.

First stage of Pre Labor:

The reduction of nutrients provided by the placenta causes stress to the fetus. This causes a release of hormones by the fetus from the hypothalmus and pituitary glands. This in turn, causes a decrease in progesterone production. Remember that the high level of Progesterone is what is keeping our girl pregnant.

The decrease of progesterone over about 24 hours causes the placenta to separate, cervical dilation and an increase in Prolactin.

Increased Prolactin causes milk production and a drop in temperature.

This is the drop of temperature we're looking for to signify that Labor is pending.

(PS: obviously the 'days of pregnancy' don't correlate with our numbers....)
