Week One (day 1-7)

Puppy Development

90% of time spent sleeping

10% of time spent eating

Susceptible to heat and cold

Instinctive reflexes: Crawl, Seek Warmth, Nurse

Puppies can upright themselves if placed upside down

Needs stimulation for urination and defication

Rapid development of central nervous system

Need constant care from Mom

Pups may loose 10% of weight after birth but should start gaining again

Weight will have DOUBLED by the end of the week!!!

Ok I have to interject something here! These puppies spend a LOT more than 10% of their time eating.... maybe that's why they never lost the predicted 10% of weigth after their birth. In fact they have been steadily gaining since delivery. Ico is being a goooood mama and making sure they are getting the best nutrition.

Puppies eyes are closed.... but did you know that their ears are too? Ears open up to a week after their eyes open.
